ROCK YOUR FRAME Online Summer Camp_July17-20

Monday, July 17 - Thursday, July 20
10:00 - 11:15/30  MST

This interactive, online photography course encourages kids to explore different composition techniques to express their amazing ideas and create effective images!   How we arrange different elements in our photograph is key to creating a great image.  The decisions we make about what to include and exclude, how to draw our eye to what we want to emphasize and creating balance in our image make a huge difference in what our end photo looks like.   By the end of the course, kids will have a number of composition tools they can choose from to tell their photographic story.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much time will be spent online during the course?

The group will meet via Zoom every morning from 10:00 - 11:15/30 AM MST for 75 minutes. Throughout the week, we will talk about about how we arrange different elements in our photograph to create a great image.  Kids will have the time in between sessions to practice, experiment and play with the concepts learned.

What kind of camera does my child require to take this course?

The purpose of the course is for kids to explore different composition techniques to use in their photos! They don't require a DSLR camera to do this.   They can use a phone, point and shoot or DSLR to take this course.

If you'd like to add on the ROCK YOUR CAMERA course later in the day, they will require a camera with manual mode, aperture priority and shutter speed priority.

Feel free to email me at click@kidsphotographyacademy.com to ask if the camera you have on hand will be appropriate.

What is the ideal age for kids taking this course?

Kids will need to be comfortable with being in a Zoom meeting for 60-75 minutes. An age range of 10-16 is recommended for this camp but of course depends on their focus level.

How will the kids learn in this online photo course?

For each day we are together kids will be taken through various compositional elements.  They will see loads of different examples that are shown in our slideshow that we discuss.  I keep the sessions interactive by asking questions to ensure they understand the concept and encouraging questions from themselves.    During the class, the kids will be getting out of their seats and taking photos to practice what we just discussed.

After our time together, the kids will learn, play and experiment with what they learned. They will have a number of challenges to complete before the next class.  They will  have online access to the material covered in class so they can go back and review whenever they need. They are also encouraged to post their images to the KPA Community Hub to get feedback.

Submitted images will be discussed in the following class.

How many students are in the class?

There is a minimum and maximum number of students.  The class requires 4 students to run.   If 4 students don't sign up, the class will be cancelled and money will be refunded or transferred to another course.
There is a maximum of 10 students in each class.

Are there are prerequisites for taking this course?

No, there are not any prerequisites for taking the course.
