Janet Pliszka
Janet is the creator of Kids Photography Academy. She's been a professional photographer for over 16 years. She's always loved watching kids get curious about her camera and that motivated her to start teaching photography in camps and schools in her city of Calgary. Now, she's thrilled to also offer online experiences for kids everywhere through KPA. Her students describe her as super encouraging, fun and knowledgeable.
She is all about sparking passion, confidence, and curiosity in kids by teaching them this craft she loves so much.

What kind of camera do we need?
You can bring any camera to this course. Each of you will want to have a camera as you'll be doing challenges at the same time.
How will the course work?
I bring in lots of different ways to learn: slideshows, games, examples, challenges, discussions, and critiques. The best way to learn photography is hands-on, so there will be loads of time to practice the concepts we will learn and discuss together. Parents and kids will be given challenges to work on at home during the week between classes, if they so wish.
What are the minimum and maximum number of people attending?
There is a maximum of 10 pairs attending the course. The minimum number of pairs to have the program run is 5. If we are not able to secure 5 pairs, we will notify you a few days in advance. Your deposit will apply to another session or we’ll refund you in full. Be sure to tell your friends so we can keep the course running!!
Will the group be leaving the SCA community center?
Yes. There are photogenic areas to explore around the center that are ideal for picture taking and storytelling so we will leave the center to take full advantage of what's around us. It's a great way to learn about different lighting situations as well!
